Job Description

Software Company with a presence in Texas, Florida and California is searching for a Security Engineer to join their team.  This company offers a remote monitoring and management SaaS tool that helps MSP and IT consulting companies manage their customers. 

The Security Engineer has company-wide visibility and includes deliverables stretching across individual developers to executive leadership. As part of their core information technology team, the Security Engineer will directly contribute to the user experience of our 4000+ customers across the Managed-Service-Provider (MSP) space and in enterprise/corporate IT shops.  The Security Engineer will help own and solve challenges that include responding to security incidents, developing/documenting incident management processes and procedures, investigating security vulnerabilities in our environment and applications; applying a multi-layered approach to data privacy and information security; and engraining cybersecurity into the company culture.  The Security Engineer will also serve as a leader and mentor, as there are other team members who are junior in these areas of expertise—as well as in their careers.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • BS in a technology discipline (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Security Operation Center (SOC)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience as part of an Incident Response (IR) team

Certifications: (a plus)

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional)
  • CISA (Cybersecurity and Information Security Agency)
  • CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker)
  • GDAT (GIAC Defending Advanced Threats)

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency with scripting (Shell, PowerShell, PERL, Java, and/or Python) and automation of security tools.
  • Expertise with defensive security methods & tools
  • Expertise with Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP & UDP protocols and networking design/architecture
  • Strong knowledge of the functionality and capabilities of network defense technologies, such as ACLs, firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and web content filtering
  • Experience with common exploitation techniques and tools
  • In-depth and up-to-date understanding of the threat landscape and the techniques to defend against them – including tactics, techniques, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document processes, procedures, and runbooks to respond to security incidents within the company’s environment.
  • Review, investigate, perform forensics, and remediate security events.
  • Apply lessons learned and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop orchestration and automation between security tools.
  • Develop solutions to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Perform threat hunting and threat intelligence.
  • Advise on how to harden systems and services and how to remediate security vulnerabilities.
  • Review and provide input on new security methods or tools to add on to a layered defense
  • Develop comprehensive and accurate reports and presentations for both technical and executive audiences (may be internal to the Company, or external such as prospects/clients or media)
  • Review the latest news or findings in the regulatory compliance and cybersecurity spaces—how does this impact the Company immediately, and what effects could it have for the Company in the future?
  • Meet with prospects and clients to help explain how the Company protects their data and privacy—which may include high-level explanations of current security implementations
  • Provide leadership and guidance to other team members
  • Provide data and information to help guide executive leadership
  • Provide input on company-wide strategies

Compensation:

This is a fulltime position offering a salary between $110-140K – depending on experience.
